T
here follows a duet for the DAUGHTER and
CITIZEN. It is a dance of courtship but it is as
simple as the Almanac. None of this duet need have
any folk material unless you see fit. I keep thinking of various
parts of your music, Aaron. There is the unforgettable quiet
part of the LINCOLN work that is so beautifully woven on
the loom of this country without seeming to use folk material.
It gives me the feeling that I hear it. Of course, I do not, I
could not remember a part of the melodic line, but it is in my
pulse somewhere –
